WHAT IS HAPPENING AT CALVARY?

WHY DO WE NEED ROOM FOR MORE?
In 2012, when we moved to our new Maumee home, our prayer was that God would use our church body and building to be a blessing to others and point people to Jesus. Since our first service in the former theater, we have seen the number of people who call Calvary their home continually grow. We are so thankful for the space that God blessed us with, but our current Sunday attendance is reaching full capacity in multiple rooms. We are also finding the need for more usable space for discipleship and children/youth ministry.
WHY ARE WE STARTING A CAPITAL CAMPAIGN?
The Room-For-More initiative is a church-wide effort to provide resources needed for the addition of a new, larger Sanctuary. As we prepare this facility to reach more people for Christ, the campaign is a way to challenge us to discover God’s will for our lives in a new and exciting dimension in the area of giving.
WHAT RENOVATIONS WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE ROOM-FOR-MORE SANCTUARY EXPANSION?
Once we have approval from Calvary's membership, we will begin the process of adding an addition to the back of our current facility. This expansion will allow our church family a larger space to gather, and provide room for more people to experience the life change God has for them. This 34,000 square foot,1,500 seat expansion will include a sanctuary for worship, additional atrium area, new restrooms, and more places for our church body to connect.
WHAT DOES THE TIMELINE OF THE PROJECT LOOK LIKE?
We hope to break ground in the spring of 2025 and have a goal to complete construction by the early 2027. We do not anticipate significant impact on much of our normal weekly church activities. Church staff and the contractors will work closely to ensure we have safe access to our facilities throughout the construction process.
WHAT IS THE TOTAL COST?
Based on current projections from our contractor, the expansion is estimated to cost $15 million for the Sanctuary Expansion Project. Additional alternate projects could include more discipleship and children/youth space.
WHY WILL WE BUILD THE NEW SPACE WITH A FLAT FLOOR?
The current stadium-style seating was designed by the movie theater to bring you a great individual, entertainment experience. As a church, we don't want to entertain, but rather build community and connection. By going from stadium seating to flat floor seating, we are moving from ME to WE. The flat floor will give us flexibility of seat count and setup. In addition, there will be raised seating at the back of the new sanctuary.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO AUDITORIUM 1 AND AUDITORIUM 2?
Due to the load-bearing wall between Auditorium 1 & 2, we cannot combine the two current rooms without significant cost (which would be estimated to be more than the new build). If we were able to combine the rooms, we would still be limited to a space and seating capacity that does not meet the needs of a growing church. After the Sanctuary Expansion Project is completed, Auditorium 1 & 2 will not sit empty. This space will allow Calvary to expand discipleship opportunities so that more people can experience the life change of Jesus.
WILL WEEKLY SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES RUN AS NORMAL DURING CONSTRUCTION?
Yes! Calvary will remain open throughout the duration of the expansion.
IS THE CHURCH TAKING ON ANY DEBT FOR THIS BUILDING PROJECT?
If it is determined that debt will be required to bridge the gap between the Room For More contributions and the cost of the project, Calvary's Board will present mortgage possibilites to be approved by Calvary's membership.
IS THERE A SCRIPTURAL BASIS FOR THIS TYPE OF GIVING?
Yes. The Bible gives examples of special projects that challenged God’s people to give extra offerings in addition to what they normally gave (Exodus 25, 35 and 1 Chronicles 29).
WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR THE ROOM FOR MORE INITIATIVE TO SUCCEED?
If each of us will pray, search the scriptures, listen to God, and respond in obedience, the campaign will be successful. But even more importantly, we will accomplish the purposes God has for us as individuals, and as a church.

BEING A PART OF ROOM FOR MORE

WHO IS BEING ASKED TO GIVE TOWARD THIS CAMPAIGN?
The short answer is everyone! If you call Calvary home we invite you to pray and ask God how He would have you get involved.
HOW CAN I GIVE TO HELP MAKE ROOM FOR MORE?
After asking the Lord what He would have you give, you may mail in your donation, give online, give in person, or text to give. You may also give with stocks, cryptocurrency, or gifts in kind.
HOW MUCH WILL I BE EXPECTED TO GIVE?
There is no set formula for giving. Each of us should begin to seek the Lord for direction on how much He desires to provide through us. Our giving should be above and beyond our tithe and missions offerings and should involve sacrifice as an act of faith on our part. Remember, God doesn’t ask us for equal gifts, just equal sacrifice.
WILL MY PLEDGE BE MADE PUBLIC?
Individual commitments will not be made public. Each person will be asked to make a faith commitment that is an indication of what finances you believe God will provide through you. Your giving is a covenant between you and God and is based only on His leading. You will not be under any legal obligation to fulfill your commitment. As time progresses, you may increase or decrease your commitment, as the Lord leads. It is important to remember that this is not so much an issue of money or a building as it is about hearing God’s voice, stepping out in faith, and watching as He provides and uses each of us to fulfill His calling for this church!
I GAVE TO THE LIFE CHANGE INITIATIVE. HOW HAVE THOSE FUNDS BEEN USED?
All of the donations made to the Life Change Initiative launced in 2020 have been held in secure accounts. These funds have been set aside and have been used only for the advancement of the sanctuary expansion project..
IF I AM ALREADY GIVING TO THE LIFE CHANGE INITIATIVE (2020 CAMPAIGN), DO I NEED TO CHANGE MY RECURRING GIFT?
You do not need to change your donation, unless you feel the Lord leading you to do so.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A ONE-TIME GIFT AND A PLEDGE?
A pledge to the Room For More Campaign is a commitment to invest in the project over the next two years. An immediate donation is not required and but can be paid out annually, monthly, or weekly. This allows you to make your most generous commitment to this campaign and offers flexibility to fulfill the pledge payments in a manner that works best for your family. A one-time gift would be a single and immediate gift to the project. We encourage everyone to consider a multi-year pledge to invest in the future of Room for More and change lives for years to come.
ARE MY DONATIONS TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
Yes. Calvary Church is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. All donations are tax-deductible where allowed by law. Annual contribution statements are always available electronically, and will be mailed by the end of January each year.
IS YOUR ONLINE GIVING SAFE? IS YOUR SITE SECURE?
Yes. Calvary takes the security of your personal information and data very seriously. Calvary's online giving software, Fellowship One, utilizes strong encryption and authentication procedures to protect information, making it a PCI compliant service provider, meaning it adheres to the highest security standards in the payment processing industry.
ARE THERE OTHER WAYS CAN I GIVE?
If you wish to give stock or cryptocurrency donations to the Room for More expansion, visit www.toledocalvary.org/give and scroll to the bottom of the page- . In order for us to give proper credit for your contribution we will need to have the details sent to mfox@toledocalvary.org. Your gift will be acknowledged on your annual contribution statement.
IF I CANNOT GIVE FINANCIALLY AT THIS TIME, IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY I CAN HELP?
Prayer is the most important aspect of this endeavor! Please pray for the church to continue to impact our community, and for the team that is working on the expansion project. Also as our space grows, there will be new serve opportunities. We will communicate these needs in the next few months with links to sign up.
DOES THIS EXPANSION CHANGE OUR INVESTMENT IN LOCAL AND FOREIGN MISSIONS?
Our heart as a church from the very beginning has been missions. Room for More will not change our commitment to reaching a lost world. God calls us to not only take His Word to the furthest parts of the earth but also to our neighbors. By making Room for More, we are increasing our opportunity to reach the lost here in our own community.
